Stable Release 2009.2.0 (September 2009)
This is the newly released and recommended version of Hugin. The project releases source code only and relies on the users community to produce binaries for daily use.
- Linux users refer to their distribution’s package manager, and most often to backports.
- For FreeBSD there is a port that is continuously being updated.
- For MacOSX, Harry van der Wolf’s 2009.2.0_RC1 (21-Sept-2009) is equivalent to the released package.
- For Windows, Allard Katan has put an installer on Sourceforge. It is better than Ad Huikeshoven’s development snapshots but in my opinion still not at the same level of polish as the MacOSX package.
For systems that don’t have a package manager (Windows and MacOSX) the project will host contributed binaries on its download pages when users upload them. If you don’t find it there, it is likely that there is no official release for your platform – step up to the task and build it.
Legacy Releases 0.8.0 (July 2009) and 0.7.0 (October 2008)
Support for these versions is being phase out, but if they do the job for you keep using them. Binaries for systems that don’t have a package manager – Windows (0.7.0) and Mac OSX (0.8.0) – are hosted as a courtesy on the project’s SourceForge page. Linux and BSD users will find binaries in their distribution’s package manger.
Development
Development of Hugin continues beyond the 2009.2.0 release. Are you looking for the latest features? Are you ready to trade off some stability? Warning! This is bleeding edge. The software has bugs and may not perform as expected. It is not malicious and older functionality should work as well as in stable releases. Don’t expect new functionality to run smoothly. If you use this software and find bugs (you will find them!), please report them back on the bug tracker. Discussions of the development and use of Hugin take place on theĀ hugin-ptx mailing list.
Windows
- Ad Huikeshoven used to release regularly a Windows installer known to work on XP and Vista.
- Build it yourself instructions: SDK-based. From scratch.
MacOSX
Harry van der Wolf regularly builds Hugin, Enblend/Enfuse, and other related packages.

VERIFY
Never trust a software download. If md5 or sha1 checksums are provided, check them, they are a fingerprint to proof that the software has not been corrupted during download. For Windows, use a free tool like WinMD5 or Checksum. For Linux (and OS X?) use the md5 or sha1 command from the command line. For the Windows downloads offered directly form this site, simply download the MD5 Checksums file to the same folder and drag all downloaded files on WinMD5. For the other linked software, check the site on which it is provided.
Information
Hugin’s SVN changelog.
Complete list of windows installers ever published on this site
This site has not published any windows installer for more than a year. The MD5 Checksums file can be viewed in a text editor and is for historical reference only. The list does not include third party installers that are only linked here for your convenience. Look for a way to verify their checksum or use them at your own risk.
